Could you let me know if I need to do anything different? I haven't run a PlayOnLinux script before, though, so I might not be doing it correctly.

I tried installing from the script but the install didn't proceed past the screen in which you view the code, check the box saying "I Agree" and click Next. If you want to test it, you can backup the folder for the virtual drive (from /home/username/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/) before upgrading, install the upgrade, see if you like it, and if you don't, delete the folder and copy the folder you backed up back into the wineprefix folder to quickly get back to 1.17.1. Something to consider if you don't need the features from higher versions (I don't know the added features between 1.17.1 and 1.21 though). With version 1.17.1, it usually takes 5 to 6s for the program to start while it takes about 13s for higher versions to start on my machine. While you CAN install up to version 1.21 using this method, one reason you might not want to is the program's startup time. Select the previous 1.17.1 install, select the executable for the higher version installer, and proceed with the installation.

For me the hash check generated this (name of user omitted):Ĭ:\Users\\Downloads>certutil -hashfile KindleForPC-installer-0.exe SHA256ĬertUtil: -hashfile command completed successfully. The automatic installer for Play On Linux no longer works if you choose to download the install files automatically (probably because it downloads a higher version than works with the Play On Linux script), so here's what I've found with manual installs ("Install a non-listed program"). If you haven't ran the certutil command before make sure you cd in to the right directory beforehand. If no update.assume I am sailing happily with PC intact and finally reading my book in my favorite note-taking program.īe sure to scroll click on this link and avoid the sidebars, not to sure if they are ads.

I'll update if I have issues once I install. I also ran Microsoft Defender on the file, so it seems to be good. However I like to check 2 sources, and they appear to match. I just checked this file source's SHA256 against the SHA256 hashes displayed at ApprenticeElf's GitHub FAQ Site and this MobileThread by (who I think is a) trusted user jhowell(he's very active there and created an KPX plugin - which to me is not working atm hence why I'm looking for a 1.17 download again), they are both the same hash: You can try this file source to find the Kindle for PC 1.17 version as it seems as of December 2020 the FileHippo site link above has deprecated. Test- wrote a nice post for this but doesn't seem to want to post
